The Interim Committee of the Higher Education Council at its 18th meeting decided to appoint HE Dr. Nasser M. Al-Aqeeli as the Vice-Rector of King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals for Applied Research for three years.
Dr Al-Aqeeli holds a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
from King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals and a PhD degree in Material
Engineering from McGill University in Canada in 2007. He worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Massachusetts Institute of
Technology for one year, in addition to his work as a researcher at Harvard
University in the same year.
Dr. Al-Aqeeli served as the Dean of Scientific Research and Director of Science & Technology Unit. He also served as the
chairman of the Dhahran Valley Knowledge Company (DVKC), which makes him a
contributor to advancing the scientific research process in the university and
setting its strategies and objectives.
Al-Aqeeli got a number of awards for his distinguished works, the most recent
of which is the Arab Creativity Award in the field of scientific creativity,
which is awarded by the Arab Thought Foundation. Dr Al-Aqeeli also serves as a
part-time consultant for a number of public and private entities.
He also participated in the preparation of a number of strategic plans inside
and outside the university, as well as being a member of in a number of
national committees. He has published (95) research papers in scientific journals
with a distinct influence factor in the ISI databases. He obtained 17 patents
registered with the US Patent Office (USPTO), in addition to patents registered
in the Gulf Patent Office. He transferred a number of his patents to existing
companies such as Telaa and RuBricks Inc. He is also a frequent keynote
speaker and participant in scientific conferences. The number of papers he
presented at international conferences exceeds 40 papers, He is the presiding arbitrator of more than (15)
scientific and international journals with high Impact factor at ISI Scouts.
He published scientific papers in the publishing strategies and mechanisms to
support research and improve the scientific output. He has also participated in
the drafting of the intellectual property laws and regulations of King Fahd
University of Petroleum & Minerals, as well as participating in the
drafting of the procedures for the commercializing and ownership of
international companies in Dhahran Techno Valley.
Dr. Al-Aqeeli published a reference scientific, printed by Springer in 2015, and he is leading a group of research projects. He is also engaged in research supported by King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology, Saudi Aramco, King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals and Lockheed Martin Aircraft Industries, with total budgets of more than SR 120 million.
