The Department of Global & Social Studies Seminar on “The Lobby as a Model in Promoting Saudi Arabia’s International Relations”

The Department of Global & Social Studies at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) organized a lecture on 20 November 2019, entitled “The Lobby as a Model in Promoting Saudi Arabia’s International Relations”. This valuable lecture was delivered by Dr. Ibrahim bin Abdullah Almutrif, a former associate professor of international relations at KFUPM.

The concept of the lobby in international relations was dealt by Dr. Almutrif in details. He discussed several key points, the most important of which are the reasons, justifications and motives for the emergence of the lobby. Dr. Almutrif then discussed the role of the lobby in the international community. He touched upon the size, influence and power of the lobby in international relations. He also provided examples of the experience of some states in the region. In his lecture, he presented the experience of the Saudi lobby in the United States of America, and then shed light on the importance of youth capabilities in the field of work of the Saudi lobby abroad and its role in strengthening diplomatic relations. Dr. Almutrif concluded his lecture by clarifying the strategic lines of a future vision for establishing a modern Saudi lobby.

Faculty and students attended this valuable lecture, which culminated in a discussion period. Dr. Ibrahim Almutrif’s interesting and rich lecture prompted a stimulating question and answer session.
