King Fahd University Ranked 4th among top 100 universities in granted patents at USPTO for 2019

King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals achieved the fourth position in the annual classification of the U.S. National Academy of Inventors and the Intellectual Property Owners Association for the universities worldwide in 2019.

His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Energy and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals, stressed that this achievement is a pride for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as a whole, and reflects the progress of the Kingdom in all fields. He expressed his great thanks and gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and to His Royal Highness Prince Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense - may Allah protect them - for their great support for education and their interest to hold the Saudi universities to the highest international standards in the fields of education, research, innovation, development and community service.

HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman indicated that King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals, by achieving this advanced position in patent numbers, has excelled over other distinguished universities and academic institutions in this field. This accomplishment was a result of the strategic methodology adopted by KFUPM for decades, with the supervision of the University presidents, deans, and qualified faculty members, who participated in its progress and keep it in line with the requirements of development.

His Royal Highness praised the University’s interest to provide a fertile environment for creativity and innovation which plays a key role in one of the main goals of the Saudi Vision 2030, i.e. the knowledge economy. He stressed that the University is focused on developing new academic programs that meet the requirements of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, activated the innovation system and actively participated in diversifying and expanding the national economy resources, as well as strengthening the university's position as one of the world's most prestigious universities in the field of technology development and in enhancing the entrepreneurial environment.
