King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals Concludes the Induction Program for New Students

On Thursday, 20th August 2020, King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals concluded the 3 days induction program for new students. It aims to complete the admission procedures and allow the students to be fully prepared at the beginning of the first day of the 2020-2021 academic year on Sunday 30th August 2020.

In an online meeting, Dr. Muhammad Al-Saggaf, KFUPM President, welcomed the new students and congratulated them on their admission to the university, outlined the advantages of studying at King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals, presented the University's future strategic visions, answered students' questions and inquiries, and gave advices that would help the new students to start the academic study.

The program’s activities included an online meeting with the officials of the Preparatory Year, Student Affairs, Admission and Registration. The University officials provided answers to new students ’inquiries about the university in general and the preparatory year in particular. The meeting was attended by the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Ahmed Alojairi, Dean of Admission and Registration, Dr. Saad Al-Shahrani, University registrar Dr. Samir Al-Ghadhban, Dean of the College of Applied and Supporting Studies, Dr. Hattan Tawfiq, and the Assistant Dean, Prep Year Affairs - College Of General Studies, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Assaf.

The program included an online lecture entitled “A Journey at King Fahd University” given by the Assistant Dean, Student Affairs for Student Activities and Programs, Dr. Khalid Ali Al-Enazi. It aimed to introduce students to the university, the most important facilities and services provided by the Deanship of Student Affairs, and the most important things that the new student needs to know, such as preparatory year subjects, how to bypass, the mechanism for reading the academic schedule, and advices on online learning.

The lecture includes video and direct reports from the Director General of Student Housing, Mr. Ali Al-Ghashiri, Assistant Director of Student Activities, Mr. Ahmed Al-Maghlouth, and the Assistant Executive Director of Student Fund, Mr. Saleem Al-Qahtani.

allowance, E-mail, as well as completing the housing procedures and receiving the study schedule and textbooks. Due to the Corona pandemic, and in the interest of students' safety, the University organized the induction program activities online (remotely), and the admission procedures for students were completed without their presence. The KFUPM cards were sent to the student’s cities via Saudi Post and their allowances will be deposited on their bank accounts.

New students will be provided housing accommodations when the study return to regular attendance. English placement and the SkipPrep tests have been done online through the (Blackboard). The possibility of providing students with electronic copies of textbooks well be discussed.

Dr. Al-Enezi said that the students' interaction with the program was distinguished. Everyone was keen to attend the program’s lectures and participate by asking questions. Of more than 1000 questions addressed to the University officials, the most important questions were answered.
