Governor of the Eastern Province Sponsors the Inauguration of Al Fozan Academy

On Tuesday 14th November 2017 and under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Eastern Province, Al Fozan Academy for the development of nonprofit organization leaders celebrates the inauguration of its headquarter at KFUPM.

The aim of the Academy is to train the leaders of nonprofit organizations in the best international practices, and was created in response to the urgent need for the professional development of the nonprofit leadership as an initiative by KFUPM Center of Excellence for the development of nonprofit institutions and Al Fozan Social Foundation drawing on international expertise to develop many academic programs.

HE expressed his happiness at the opening of a scientific edifice and a platform for development. These institutions are considered to be a tributary of development and an active partner in building society and human development. There are many images and forms for this sector, which makes it a major contributor in achieving the objectives of the national transformation program 2020 and its features began to appear under the instruction of the wise leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and the follow-up of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz.


His Highness stressed that the private sector's efforts to build sustainable partnerships that seek the community developmental needs are important in making the difference to the bright future, to achieve the Kingdom ambitious vision 2030 in Create a living community with solid values and a rich environment.


He added: "Many efforts have disappeared in various sectors due to the tendency towards individual work, which is characterized by many shortages and shortcomings, but the co-efforts and partnerships are all praiseworthy and effective, and achieve tangible results.

He pointed out that this partnership, which is witnessing its fruits today between King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals and Al Fozan Social Foundation, is the best proof of the two parties' awareness of the importance of a long-term lasting partnerships, embodied in an academic entity that seeks the needs of the nonprofit sector, develop its leaders and benefit the sector, the university and the community.

HRH thanked Mr. Abdul Latif Al Fozan for his charitable initiatives and his efforts towards his country and the people of his community. He also thanked the Rector of King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals Dr. Khalid bin Saleh Al-Sultan and the university staff for their efforts in the university expected leading role.

He concluded by saying: "I ask Allah Almighty to preserve our homeland from all evil, to perpetuate the blessing, security and prosperity, and to support the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Highness the Crown Prince to all good.

HE KFUPM Rector, Dr. Khalid bin Saleh Al-Sultan, welcomed His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Eastern Province and expressed his appreciation with all KFUPM members for this generous patronage, which is a continuation of His Royal Highness's support to the University and its role in promoting national development.

We utilized all the possibilities and energies, opened our doors to every pioneering and useful idea, collaborated with international universities specializing in the nonprofit sector to provide a valuable scientific product that contributes to the qualification of the nonprofit organizations leaders with the best international practices and the establishment of a generation of leaders capable of managing the third sector organizations.

He emphasized that the Academy has built its educational and training programs very carefully, in four tracks, short training courses, professional qualification program, Master of Nonprofit Management within the university and the external scholarship program for Master in nonprofit sector. These programs are designed to target the jobs approved by the Ministry of Labor and Social Development of the third sector. All of this will be achieved in a quick and orderly manner. We “KFUPM” will be committed, as we have done in all our initiatives, to support these steps to achieve success.


Dr. Al Sultan thanked the Ministry of Labor and Social Development, headed by HE Dr. Ali Al-Ghafis, Ministry of Education, headed by HE Dr. Ahmed Al-Issa and Saudi Aramco "for their great cooperation, support of the Academy's programs, and active participation to achieve its goals from the very first day of its launch." He also thank our distinguished partner Al Fozan for community service, who works with us according to high quality performance standards and implementation, therefore success has been a companion to the project from the moment it was launched. "

"We have crossed the assumed distance between the desire for success and the ability to achieve it at the right pace, it was a long distance indeed, but it deserves to be cut to make success and excellence for our beloved homeland and to increase our role in promoting the national development process, led by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdul Aziz, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz - Allah save them.

The President of the Board of Trustees of Al Fozan Social Foundation Mr. Abdullah Al Fozan thanked HRH Prince Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Eastern Province for his patronage of the opening ceremony and sponsorship of the idea since it was a dream and until it became a reality.

He pointed to the reasons behind the launch of this initiative is the quality of the idea, the absence of a similar entity in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East and to contribute to the realization of the vision of 2030 for the objectives of the nonprofit sector. Moreover, the vision, with the support of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz - may Allah protect him, urged to raise the contribution of nonprofit sector in the GDP.

He said that we did not find a larger and more important partner than King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM). The initiative became an agreement, and today it has become a scientific institution, so far, 8179 training hours for 223 trainees from 13 Saudi regions. We have reached associations in 110 cities and counties under the supervision of 19 experts from inside and outside Saudi Arabia.

He thanked those who helped these initiatives, programs and courses and who give them strength to continue to progress. He said that we will work for our beloved country, led by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, to be a leader in everything.

The Academy offers specialized training courses, Practicing Certificates in nonprofit sector, advanced diploma programs, executive MBA for nonprofit sector, and external scholarship programs.

The Academy is looking forward to develop partnerships with prestigious international universities specializing in the nonprofit sector. It seeks continuous cooperation with senior specialists in the third sector and follows the scientific and applied methodology in building, implementing and evaluating the offered programs, seeks local and international accreditations for the programs and applies KFUPM academic quality standards at its programs.

 

KFUPM Center for Excellence in the Development of Nonprofit Organizations and Al Fozan Social Foundation, initiated the establishment of a specialized academy to serve the nonprofit sector, drawing on international expertise to develop many academic programs and to support the role of the Ministry.


The Academy strives to achieve leadership in the management of nonprofit organizations through the development, design and implementation of professional programs for the development of nonprofit organizations leaders in a number of different disciplines, followed by the establishment of EMBA program based on the best international practices and professional model.

The Academy will build the capacity of the Kingdom nonprofit organizations by providing an environment for transferring experiences and exchanging international, regional and local expertise and attracting experts and trainers with a high level of experience in this field.
