The Department of Physical Education recently celebrated the conclusion of its extracurricular activities for the semester (71/172) in the presence of a large number of KFUPM students at the gymnasium (Building No. 11). The event added a great deal of enthusiasm and competition to sports activities especially to basketball.
Dr. Abdul-Hamid A. Al-Ameer, Chairman, Department of Physical Education, pointed to the importance of extracurricular activities in providing students fitness, its positive effects on their health, to refine their sports skills and to fill their leisure time, which helps to support the process of academic achievement. These activities are organized according to the schedule of activities and competitions for the current academic year. He added.
Dr. Al-Ameer thanked the department's faculty members for their efforts in the success of the program.
Mr. Ali Obeid, Chairman of the Sports Committee, said that the squash, badminton, basketball, volleyball competitions were organized for undergraduate students and football and volleyball competitions were organized for the preparatory year.
32 students participated in squash competitions, 32 students participated in badminton competitions, and (16) classes participated in basketball competitions.
In the presence of the Department Chairman, the swimming championship organized on the College sports day. In this championship, a large number of students enrolled in the 25 m free, back, butterfly and 4 × 25 relay. Winners of the first centers were awarded.
All these activities were organized under the supervision of the Sports Committee of the Department of Physical Education, headed by Mr. Ali Obeid, with Mr. Erdogan, Ertan, Wady, Phillip and Syed Ibrahim as members.
