Deputy Minister of Communications visited King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals

The University Acting Rector, Dr. Sahel N. Abduljauwad, received Dr. Ahmed Altheneyan, Deputy Minister for Technology, Industry and Digital Capacities at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, during his visit to the university on Tuesday, September 4, 2018.

Dr. Altheneyan met Dr. Mohammad Al-Homoud, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and a number of university officials to discuss ways to increase cooperation with the university in the field of technology development, and to learn about the university’s latest research achievements and projects in the field of technology.

Dr. Altheneyan visited the College of Computer Science and Engineering and met Dr. Adel F. Ahmed, the College Dean, and a number of professors. During the meeting, Dr. Adel gave a presentation on the college’s vision and objectives. These focus on the graduation of engineers qualified for the labor market, in addition to focusing on excellence in research projects and patents in the technical field. He pointed out that the college's interest is in new technical fields such as artificial intelligence, data analysis and information security, which is one of the objectives of the Kingdom Vision 2030. In addition, Dr. Altheneyan visited Dhahran Techno Valley (DTV).

The means of cooperation with the Ministry of Communication will involve students’ innovation, entrepreneurship, the university's achievements in the field of computing, the academic programs offered to employers in various sectors, and linking technical sciences to the labor market.
