KFUPM International Advisory Board (IAB).

KFUPM International Advisory Board held its twenty-third meeting on Sunday and Monday (7 and 8 October 2018) in the presence of the Board members which constitute a group of prominent local and international scientific figures in the academic and industrial sectors.

 
The agenda of the meeting included a presentation by the Vice Rector for Applied Studies and Research Dr. Nasser bin Mohammed Al-Aqili on the transformation of King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals to a research university.


Dr. Sulaiman Al-Humaidan, Supervisor of Female Education, made a presentation about the possibility of female students joining the postgraduate programs in a number of specializations and to prepare the university for teaching these disciplines at the beginning of the academic year 1440/1441 AH (2019/2020).


Dr. Iyad Alzaharnah, Director General - Innovation & Industrial Relations, made a presentation on the aspects of the master plan to transform Dhahran Techno Valley into an innovation complex.

Dr. Samir al-Baiyat, the Secretary General of the IAB, highlighted the updates and changes since the last meeting of the Board.

 

Benefiting from the global trends and developments in higher education and technological and industrial development, KFUPM IAB aims to provide specialized consultancy that aligns with KFUPM vision and its future directions, support the University's efforts to enhance its competitive advantage and prestige worldwide, activate the university's partnerships with international academic and industrial institutions, suggest new development initiatives for the University and contribute to the development of the University educational process, research and community communication.


The members of the Board are: Professor Martin Jischke, former President of Purdue University in the United States of America, Dr. Sahel N. Abduljauwad, Rector of King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals, Mr. Yousef Abdullah Al-Benyan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC), Eng. Amin Bin Hassan Al-Nasser, President of Saudi Aramco and Chief Executive Officer, Professor Jean Lochamo, President of KAUST, Mr. Didier Houssin, Chairman and CEO of the French Petroleum Institute, Professor Charles Elachi, Vice President of the California Institute of Technology, and Director of Jet Propulsion Laboratory U.S.A., Mr. John Rice, Vice Chairman of GE and CEO of GE Global Growth and Operations, Professor Nam P. Suh, former president of the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, Professor Hugo Sonnenschein former president of the University of Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A. and Dr. Samir al-Baiyat, the Secretary General of the IAB.
