Qualified to Represent the Kingdom Internationally...A Team of KFUPM Students Won the Challenge of Financial Research

On Saturday, February 23, 2019, a student team at KFUPM won the annual financial research challenge competition in the Kingdom, organized by the CFA Society of the CFA Institute. This Institute is globally recognized in the field of financial analysis and investment management, the team is set to represent Saudi Arabia internationally in the regional challenge in Zurich.

The competition aims at developing a deep research and financial analysis industry on sound scientific and economic basis, which contributes to investment decision-making on a sound basis. The competition is held annually in the Kingdom. Then, the first place winner will represent the Kingdom in Europe, Africa and the Middle East competition. One team from each country will participate.

The winning team included Ibrahim Mohammed Al-Hadithi, Al-Baraa Mansour Al-Zamzami, Abdulrahman Abdul-Karim Al-Harbi, Ali Abdulrahman Al-Saeed and Naif Khalifa Al-Dosari. The team was supervised by the assistant professor at the Department of Accounting and Finance, Dr. Naji Mohammad Al-Shammasi and the Director of Capital Markets Investments at Al-Rajhi Alpha (KFUPM graduate), Mr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Alwan.

The competition is to select a listed company in the local stock market and to write a detailed financial and analytical report about its business. Accordingly, an investment decision is recommended whether to sell, buy or maintain the stock. leejam Sports Company (Fitness Time) was selected in the challenge of the year.
