KFUPM Recognized Distinguished Faculty Members, Staff and Graduates with Honors

On Monday, March 4, 2019, under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Sahel N. Abduljauwad, Rector of King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM) honored faculty members and staff who won Awards of Excellence for the year 1439/1440 AH as well as recognizing students who received first, second and third degree honors. The Awards of Excellence were given to distinguished professors, researchers, directors, employees, administrative assistants, technical support officers and workers. In addition, Awards of Excellence were granted to best supporting entity, outstanding students in academic assistance, student activity, best student clubs and faculty members holding patents.

Dr. Khalid bin Saleh Al-Sultan, President of King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy (KACARE), former Rector of KFUPM, said that the University is unique as it has been holding this annual ceremony, which honors KFUPM graduates and their parents, for many years. He added that KFUPM administration and graduates’ parents honored him to speak on their behalf at the ceremony, expressing everyone’s feelings and joy at the graduation ceremony.

Dr. Al-Sultan also said KFUPM is not only distinguished in education, but also in research, innovation and community service. For example, the university is ranked fifth in patents worldwide. Furthermore, Dhahran Techno Valley — and its centers of research, technology, innovation and business incubators — is the largest scientific complex of its kind in energy research worldwide. KFUPM has also adopted community service programs that support the non-profit sector.

Dr. Al-Sultan concluded by saying: “Congratulations to you on this achievement and success. We appreciate the effort you have made. It was a difficult journey during which there were many difficulties and challenges. We know that it requires patience, perseverance and great effort, but you have completed it successfully. Praise be to Allah first and foremost.
