On Monday morning, 9th December 2019, Dr. Sahel N. Abduljauwad, Rector of King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals, inaugurated the Open Day for Employment in which 69 governmental and private companies participated. This was the largest number of entities participating in this event in the last 5 years.
Dr. Abduljauwad visited the booths of companies participating in the event, which was held at the Exhibition Center (Building 54) and he learned about the training opportunities they offered to KFUPM students.
H.E. the Rector honored the event sponsors, which included Saudi Aramco (the official sponsor), Samba Financial Group (the golden sponsor), Riyad Bank, Saudi Electricity Company, Saudi Telecom Company, Mobily Company, Riyadh Airports Company and Saudi Technology and Security Comprehensive Control Company.
The event included companies and institutions from several key sectors, namely the governmental, semi-governmental, energy, industrial, financial, information technology, services, retail and consulting sectors.
Dr. Ahmed Alojairi, Dean of Student Affairs and Chairman of the organizing committee, stated that the activity - which was set to run over four days- aimed to enable students, especially those expecting to graduate, to learn more about market trends and available training and employment opportunities, and to increase their knowledge of the needs of the labor market.
Dr. Alojairi pointed out that this occasion helps new students to form a clear picture of the scientific academic disciplines suitable to their abilities and personal preferences, to choose a major according to the objective prevailing criteria of the labor market and to their personal standards, as well as enabling the distinguished cooperation between KFUPM and various sectors of society.
The Open Day for Employment aims to familiarize the employment providers with the university’s specializations, the academic programs and the professional education that it offers to its students. It also aims to teach students effective job search skills, including how to write a CV and pass a personal interview.
