A workshop aimed at sustaining the fish sector and increasing fish stocks: KFUPM - Center for Environment & Water

Under the Sustaining Research Program in the Marine Environment... A Research Team Studies Sea Turtles

As part of the Sustaining Research VI Program between KFUPM and Saudi Aramco, a research team led by Dr. Rommel Maneja issued a paper on the biology and ecology of sea turtles that aims to support their conservation management in the Saudi waters of the Arabian Gulf. The research aims to enhance the understanding of the biology and ecology of sea turtles that live in the waters of the Kingdom in the Arabian Gulf, and to determine their basic habitats, such as nesting areas (laying eggs) and food areas, in addition to assessing the state of their main nesting sites, distribution, and connectivity.

Sustaining the Marine Environment Project Concluded its Phase 6

The Marine Environment Project is a long-term research program based on the marine environment of the Arabian Gulf. It is a multidisciplinary marine research collaboration between Saudi Aramco and the Center for Environment & Water, Research Institute - KFUPM. The project began in the late eighties and consisted of several phases. For each phase of the project, which generally lasted for around 5-years, there were specific goals. According to Dr. Lutfi Rabawi, the project manager, the project has now reached the end of phase VI, and preparations for phase VII have begun.

In-class exams for preparatory and first-year students .. KFUPM organizes final exams for the semester

King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) held final exams for the first semester of the academic year 2020/2021. The on-campus exams involved preparatory and first-year students, and postgraduate students. Exams were also held in various regional centers in the Kingdom from Thursday to Wednesday, 24-30 December 2020. 4311 students took the exam in Dhahran, 1,286 in Riyadh, 1,254 in Jeddah, and 247 students in Abha.

A research team prepared various novel carbons using biomass and waste for multiple applications

Carbon is a versatile material that is widely used in modern life for human welfare. It has a wide range of applications, such as power generation and storage, gas separation, water purification, sensor fabrication, coating, and catalysis. A research team from the at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, headed by Dr. Md. Abdul Aziz, has prepared different types of carbon using biomass, industrial waste and low-cost carbon source such as coal.

The Medical Center joins the "Ihalati" program for electronic referrals

King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals Medical Center obtained a permit to join the "Ihalati" program for the electronic referral of patients. On 11/26/2020, the Ministry of Health officially agreed that the university's medical center would be among the facilities authorized for the electronic transfer of pertinent information between hospitals affiliated with the ministry in the Eastern Province.

Within the joint educational cooperation framework between Dhahran Valley of Technology and the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals Medical Center, a remote awareness lecture was coordinated in November to raise awareness of men's health issues, especially prostate health problems.
