KFUPM Council Approved the Annual Report, Graduate Studies for Female Students, the Development of Several Programs and Changing the Names of Colleges and Academic Departments

The KFUPM Council held its sixth session for the academic year 1438/1439 H on the 7th of Ramadan 1439 H corresponding to 22 / 5 / 2018, at the university campus in Dhahran under the chairmanship of His Excellency Dr. Khalid S. Al Sultan. Attendees included Dr. Mohammed Abdulaziz Al Saleh, Secretary-General of the Interim Committee of the Higher Education Council, and Vice Rectors and Deans of Colleges, and the supporting deanships.

Architecture Exhibition 2018 at the Student Mall, KFUPM

The students of ARC 103 and ARC 114 from the Department of Architecture, KFUPM exhibited a selection of their work from Term 172 at the five-day ‘Architecture Exhibition – 2018’. The event was held from 26 April to 01 May, 2018 at the Student Mall, KFUPM, to increase awareness of the study of architecture at KFUPM. This was the second such exhibition, following a similar one last year held towards the end of Term172.

Success of KFUPM Taekwondo Team in National Championship

KFUPM Taekwondo activities commenced in September 2015 with the collaboration of Physical Education Department and Recreational Center Management, under the supervision and support of Dr. Abdulhameed Al-Ameer, the Chairman of the Physical Education Department. As KFUPM Taekwondo, our vision is to work closely with the KFUPM community to instill a life-long love of the sport and generate physically active successful individuals. Moreover, we can help them to learn a skill that may have a powerful positive impact on a participants' psychology and social well-being through Olympic Martial Arts of Taekwondo.

KFUPM Mall

KFUPM Mall has become a center of attraction for all students where many of them enjoy their leisure time after their classes. This has become so popular that it remains jam-packed with students during the weekends because of the wide range of facilities from Bowling Alley to Barber shop all under one roof. There is a variety of restaurants, coffee shops, supermarket and other entertainment facilities all combined in one modern state of the art building.

Department of General Studies Seminar on The International Political Economy of Saudi Arabia: Sovereign Fund and Foreign Policy

On Monday, 19 March, 2018, Dr. Curran Flynn, Assistant Professor of International Relations, gave a talk on “The International Political Economy of Saudi Arabia: Sovereign Fund and Foreign Policy” Dr. Flynn’s talk addressed the nature of the foreign policy aspect of Saudi Arabia’s foreign investment through its sovereign wealth fund, known as the Public Investment Fund (PIF).

Al-Safa High School Students Visit to Architectural Engineering Department

Students from Al Safa high school paid a visit to the Architectural Engineering Department on Thursday, 3rd March, 2018. They were met at Building 19 Plaza at about 10:20 a.m. and welcomed into the building by Dr. Mohammed Alhaji Mohammed and Mr. Mohammed Rashdan of the ARE Club. They were shown around the building science laboratory and the model making workshop on the 1st floor.

Department of General Studies Special Seminar on Volatility of Oil Prices and Society

On Monday, 12 February, Robert McNally, veteran energy expert, author, and consultant, gave a talk on “Volatility of Oil Prices and Society”. The presentation reviewed the history of oil markets through the prism of oil price volatility with a special emphasis on its impacts on society.

ICTC celebrated the successful completion of its 2017 projects

The Information and Communications Technology Centre (ICTC) organized the ‘ICTC Projects of 2017’ event on 5th February 2018 from 9:00am to 12:00pm in the Auditorium of Building No. 20 to celebrate the successful completion of its 2017 projects. The aim of the event was to share the lessons learned by the Project Managers to enhance the success of future projects and avoid making the same mistakes in future, and to acknowledge the efforts of the ICTC Project Managers and Team Members who contributed to the success of the projects.
