Khulud Alotaibi, a student from King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM), and her teammates from Umm Al-Qura University achieved first place in Kidneython, the world’s first hackathon focused on kidney research, organized by DaVita Saudi in Riyadh. This hackathon promotes innovation in kidney care through technology and AI, aiming to develop effective and sustainable solutions for kidney patients. The competition featured two tracks: Track one focused on Clinical Healthcare, while Track two centered on Nutrition and Quality of Life. Khulud and her team (Murshed) stood out among 60 teams representing various universities across Saudi Arabia and earned financial awards totaling 20,000 SAR.
The team’s award-winning project is a comprehensive mobile app built using Flutter, designed to empower users by educating them about kidney health, tracking vital health metrics, and building a supportive community. The app stands out for its unique approach, blending technology with health education to create a meaningful impact in the lives of its users.
