KFUPM Celebrates Research Talent with Mawhiba

After four weeks of scientific inquiry, research, and experimentation, KFUPM celebrated the graduation of students from the Mawhiba Research Enrichment Program, one of the Mawhiba Summer Programs. The closing ceremony was held on Thursday, July 30, 2026.

The program began with a research exhibition featuring more than 50 student research projects, each reflecting weeks of intensive investigation and academic mentoring. Beyond presenting their findings, students showcased well-defined future plans to further develop their research, with many aspiring to continue their projects through the the National Olympiad for Scientific Creativity (Ibdaa) and ultimately represent the Kingdom at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF).

The exhibition was followed by the closing ceremony, attended by Dr. Mesfer Al-Zahrani, KFUPM Vice President for Academic Affairs, alongside university leaders, faculty members, students, and their families. Addressing the participants, Dr. Al-Zahrani praised the students' achievements, saying:

"What we have seen today is truly a source of pride. We are delighted, as a university, to have such talented young minds with us. This is only the beginning of your journey, and we look forward to welcoming you back as future KFUPM students."

During the ceremony, Dr. Khalid Al-Anzi, Director of Enrichment Programs at KFUPM, encouraged students to embrace curiosity as the foundation of scientific discovery, saying:

"I hope this program did not simply provide answers to the questions that started your research. My hope is that it inspired even more questions and sparked the curiosity that will continue to drive your pursuit of knowledge."

The ceremony also featured presentations highlighting the students' research journeys, the skills they developed, and the impact of their experience throughout the program. The event concluded with the recognition of outstanding student researchers.

Building on the success of the Mawhiba Academic Enrichment Program, which concluded the previous week with 240 students showcasing 42 innovative projects, KFUPM continues to provide gifted students with diverse opportunities that foster both academic excellence and scientific research.

The Research Enrichment Program builds on a longstanding partnership between KFUPM and Mawhiba to nurture the next generation of researchers and innovators. Following the success of previous editions, including the 2025 Research Enrichment Program, this year's event further demonstrated the program's role in cultivating scientific curiosity, research excellence, and future-ready talent.
