KFUPM Successfully Concludes the 2nd Conference and Exhibition on Green Sustainable Future (GiKS)

King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) has successfully concluded the 2nd Conference and Exhibition on Green Sustainable Future in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (GiKS), held on January 29-30, 2025, at Building 60. Organized by the Applied Research Centre for Environment and Marine Studies at KFUPM, the event brought together leading experts, researchers, policymakers, and industry professionals to explore innovative solutions for environmental sustainability and climate resilience.

GiKS 2025 was organized in strategic partnership with the Eastern Region Municipality (Amana), further strengthening its impact and outreach. The conference featured the participation of important high-level keynote speakers, including H.E. Eng. Fahad Al-Jubeir, the Mayor of the Eastern Region, provided valuable insights into regional sustainability initiatives. Additionally, a youth exhibition was held, attended by school boys and girls from various schools across the region, highlighting the importance of engaging younger generations in environmental sustainability.

Building on the success of its inaugural edition, GiKS 2025 exceeded expectations with increased participation, impactful discussions, and significant contributions to sustainability research. The conference saw a 50% rise in international participation, with 13 countries represented compared to 7 in 2024. Additionally, the number of registered participants grew by 55%, reaching over 1,000 attendees, up from 600+ in 2024.
