A Research Program Ignites Student Success at International Conference

The Guided Research program at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) continues to empower students, paving the way for academic and professional growth. A standout example is a student who recently participated in a project at the Joint Research Center for Artificial Intelligence, a collaboration between KFUPM and the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA). The research focused on Explainable AI for Vision Transformers in medical image classification and diagnosis.

The journey of the student Ali Zakaria Alqutayfi concluded with the acceptance of a research paper at the 17th International Conference on Computer Science and Information Technology, held at the University of Birmingham in Dubai. Reflecting on the experience, the student shared:
"This experience was more than an academic program; it was a journey of growth. I encourage my fellow students to embrace research opportunities at the university. These experiences not only build research and writing skills but also improve scientific communication and presentation abilities."

KFUPM's Undergraduate Research programs have proven to be a catalyst for developing essential research skills, offering students an early introduction to the dynamic world of scientific exploration. As this student's story demonstrates, the university’s initiatives are yielding transformative experiences and achievements on a global stage.
