An interdisciplinary talented team from KFUPM won first place in the “Reducing Early Mortality Rates” track of the Health Datathon, held on October 29, 2025, during the Global Health Exhibition in Riyadh, organized by the Ministry of Health.
Guided by Dr. Mousa Albashrawi, the team Nabth — Nusaybah Jafar AlJaafari, Reema Mohammed Al-Quwaie, Asma Ibrahim AlArfaj, Majid Saleh AlRami, and Rawan Khaled Bakro — impressed judges with their groundbreaking AI-driven solution addressing one of healthcare’s most critical challenges: the early prediction of fetal mortality risk.
Their project integrates medical and genetic data to develop an intelligent model that helps physicians intervene early, reducing fetal mortality and improving maternal and neonatal health outcomes, an innovation that supports Saudi Vision 2030’s healthcare transformation goals.
The team was honored by H.E. Minister of Health Fahad Al-Jalajel and H.R.H. Princess Dr. Haya bint Khaled bin Bandar Al Saud, in recognition of their contribution to developing data-driven, intelligent healthcare solutions.
Driven by their passion to improve care for high-risk pregnancies, the team plans to move forward by filing a patent and exploring startup opportunities to expand their impact. Their success reflects KFUPM’s commitment to empowering students to turn data into meaningful innovations that improve humanity and inspire future progress.
