Driving Global Collaborations at the EAIE 2025

On Tuesday, September 9th, KFUPM officially kicked off its exhibition at the 2025 European Association for International Education (EAIE) Annual Conference in Gothenburg, Sweden. Running through Friday, September 12th, the conference is among the largest forums in international higher education, assembling more than 6,000 professionals from over 250 countries.

This marked KFUPM’s second year exhibiting at the EAIE Conference. This year, the event drew institutions of varying nature, including research-oriented universities, university alliances and networks, NGOs, governmental agencies, and other educational organizations. Advanced planning allowed KFUPM delegates to meet with representatives from several of these institutions, including both existing and potential partners.

Throughout the conference, KFUPM actively engaged in a variety of sessions designed to strengthen international collaboration. Plenary discussions focused on cross-border student exchange programs and academic mobility, where KFUPM contributed insights from its ongoing initiatives and explored potential models for expanding participation.

Workshop sessions provided practical frameworks on developing and sustaining international partnerships, as well as sharing best practices for managing mobility programs effectively. Breakout sessions offered more focused opportunities for networking and collective brainstorming, where KFUPM exchanged ideas with global peers and identified new areas for collaboration. These interactions allowed the university to gain valuable perspectives on emerging trends in international education and to refine its approach to future partnerships.

The 2025 conference adopted the theme “GO-create”, encouraging attendees to not only imagine collaborative possibilities but to also put such ideas into action. “EAIE offers us at KFUPM a platform to showcase our transformative journey and remarkable achievements, while fostering new academic partnerships with global universities to advance global education,” noted Eng. Husameddin Almadani, Advisor to the KFUPM President.

KFUPM’s repeated participation in the conference reflects its ongoing strategy to advance global engagement and establish meaningful partnerships. The university continues to strengthen its portfolio of international collaborations and activities, currently including inbound and outbound student exchanges, frequent delegations abroad, a visiting professor program, international internship placements, and more. Building on these efforts, the university remains committed to expanding its reach and consolidating its presence on the global stage. Its participation in Gothenburg marks another step towards this goal, ultimately seeking to offer students and faculty distinctive international experiences that enhance their academic and professional journeys.
