Eid Al-Adha Gathering Brings KFUPM Community Together

On Sunday morning, June 15th 2025, the faculty and staff at KFUPM gathered to celebrate Eid Al Adha with a cheerful breakfast event that filled the room with energy and, of course, people.

The moment guests stepped into the hall, they were met with upbeat music, warm greetings, and a festive atmosphere that was hard to resist. Walls of candies, platters of sweets and food on the tables, and one popular ice cream machine were the first sight to take in. Even the macarons wore the university’s green with pride. As dates, Arabic coffee, and tea made their way through the crowd, so did lively conversations, laughter, and plenty of friendly introductions.

In the center of the room stood a custom cake topped with the KFUPM logo, ceremonially sliced by KFUPM President Dr. Muhammad Al-Saggaf, along with Dr. Ali Al-Shaikhi, Vice President of Research and Innovation, and Dr. Ahmed Alojairi, Vice President of Administration and Finance. Guests happily helped themselves to a piece, adding to the festive mood.

Donning his traditional Indonesian attire, Dr. Anton Ahmed, a postdoctoral fellow at the Interdisciplinary Research Center for Intelligent Manufacturing & Robotics, was excited to attend one of the Eid celebrations finally. “It’s been a great way to meet new people and see KFUPM’s leadership in person,” he shared.

Dr. Rimsha Mehek, who recently joined the Interdisciplinary Research Center for Advanced Materials, mirrored the sentiment. Originally from Pakistan, she described the morning as the “Eid after Eid Al Adha,” noting how welcomed she’s felt at the university and how this event added another layer of belonging.

By the end of the gathering, the room had settled, but the mood lingered. Participants looked lighthearted, connected, and ready to take on the week ahead. For newcomers and long-time employees alike, the breakfast offered a moment of shared joy, conversation, and, ultimately, a sense of community.
