On Saturday, February 7, 2026, KFUPM, through its Volunteer Work Unit, organized the 17th Voluntary Day Festival, reaffirming the university’s commitment to fostering a culture of specialized and sustainable volunteering. The event brought together 22 organizations and offered 33 diverse volunteer programs that aligned with students’ academic disciplines, with extended opportunities running throughout February to enhance long-term community impact.
The festival attracted strong engagement, with more than 650 registrants from high school and university students, reflecting a growing awareness of social responsibility and a strong willingness among youth to leverage their knowledge and skills in the service of the community. The programs showcased a comprehensive volunteering ecosystem, featuring impactful initiatives such as “Uns”, focused on patient visits in collaboration with the Saudi German Hospital and King Fahd Teaching Hospital; “Binaa”, delivered in partnership with Mi‘mar Association to design housing solutions for families in need with the participation of architecture, civil engineering, and integrated design students; and “Ikhaa”, targeting older orphans through workshops and recreational activities.
Additional initiatives included “Tamkeen” and “Ta’aluf”, designed to empower individuals with disabilities in collaboration with specialized organizations such as Arfa Association; “Ilham”, dedicated to supporting orphans; “Ataa”, which focused on preparing and distributing Ramadan food baskets in partnership with Jood Charity Association; and “Shukran”, a program honoring sanitation workers in collaboration with the Eastern Province Municipality, Dhahran Municipality, Al-Bayda Governorate, and Al Yamama Company. Together, these initiatives formed an integrated volunteering framework that addressed diverse societal needs.
Through the Voluntary Day Festival, KFUPM continues to empower youth to engage in volunteering with professionalism and purpose, fostering sustainable social impact and strengthening their role as active contributors to community development.
