Faculty Member Contributes to Global Research Collaboration

Through its Interdisciplinary Research Centre for Aviation and Space Exploration (IRC-ASE), KFUPM acknowledges the remarkable contributions of Dr. Ghulam E. Mustafa Abro during his IEEE-sponsored visit to Malaysia. Representing KFUPM, Dr. Abro played a pivotal role in strengthening research ties with Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), a globally ranked institution.

During his visit, Dr. Abro presented a KFUPM memento to UTP’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Ir. Ts. Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim Abdul Mutalib, symbolizing the deepening partnership between both universities. In recognition of his efforts, he received the “Most Active Alumnus” award—a proud moment shared with his PhD supervisor, Dr. Vijanth Sagayan Asirvadam.

Beyond formal exchanges, Dr. Abro actively engaged with over 60 postgraduate students and led an insightful session on postdoctoral opportunities and joint funding at KFUPM. As part of this initiative, he also shared an inspiring message from his Director, Dr. Ayman M. Abdallah, emphasizing KFUPM’s vision of advancing global research collaboration. Dr. Ayman envisions KFUPM as a hub for pioneering innovations, where researchers and students are empowered to push the boundaries of knowledge in aviation, space exploration, and autonomous systems. This entire activity reflects his strategic commitment to fostering global partnerships and driving impactful research initiatives.
