From Beijing to Dhahran: A Cultural Exchange

In a spirit of openness and cultural exchange, KFUPM welcomed a distinguished delegation from Peking University through the CAMEL program (China–Arabia Multicultural Exchange Link), under the theme: “Multifaceted Gulf: Industrial Innovation and Cultural and Educational Empowerment.”

The delegation was received by the Global Engagement team and hosted by the Department of Islamic and Arabic Studies, where Ms. Noha Tayyara led the session and gave an inclusive overview of the department, the Chairman Dr. Ramy Alshebl delivered a brief welcoming opening, and Mr. Mohammed Alzahrani presented on teaching Arabic to non-native speakers. The Global Engagement team also toured the IRC for Sustainable Energy Systems with Dr. Atif Alzahrani and the IRC for Refining & Advanced Chemicals with Dr. Abdullah Aitani.

Hospitality remained at the heart of the program, with lunch at KFUPM Boulevard fostering cultural exchange and a campus tour offering a glimpse of the university’s vibrant community.

Reflecting on the visit, Mr. Wang Pincheng shared:

“Walking through KFUPM’s cutting-edge interdisciplinary research centers and engaging with passionate scholars, I was deeply inspired by the fusion of innovation and sustainability at work. Every moment revealed a vibrant commitment to education that transforms both people and the planet.”

Similarly, Mr. Liu Qicheng expressed his appreciation:

“The warm reception made this visit truly memorable. From exploring KFUPM’s advanced labs to speaking with students about campus life, every encounter offered valuable insights into both technology and culture.”

The visit not only strengthened academic ties but also underscored KFUPM’s role as a hub for global dialogue and collaboration, where diversity and hospitality fuel innovation and progress.
