KFUPM Celebrates Mawhiba Research Program

KFUPM organized a ceremony celebrating the achievements of the Mawhiba Research Enrichment Program, now in its fourth consecutive year, held in collaboration with the Mawhiba Foundation, during its second week. The program, which began on Sunday, June 29, 2025, reflects the university’s deep commitment to cultivating scientific research skills in the next generation.

This year, 58 shining pre-university students were selected after submitting and refining research proposals evaluated by an academic team and specialized researchers.

Motivating the Next Generation

In his remarks during the ceremony, Dr. Khalid Ali Alanezy, Director of the Research Enrichment Program, emphasized the university’s role in shaping future researchers.

“Driven by KFUPM’s belief in the importance of research and its impact on young minds, this program continues to grow and inspire. Each participant was selected based on a research idea that was carefully reviewed and developed into a meaningful project,” he stated.

During the event, students were welcomed and congratulated for their acceptance into the program. They also shared feedback, experiences, and questions with the organizing team. Representing the student participants, Deema Alowais gave a heartfelt speech reflecting on her experience.

“From the very first day, this program offered us a valuable opportunity to enter the world of scientific research,” she shared. “It showed us how ideas evolve into questions, questions into experiments, and experiments into knowledge that serves society.”

A Message of Empowerment

In a motivational address, Dr. Ali Al-Shaikhi, KFUPM’s Vice President for Research and Innovation, encouraged students to embrace their potential and push boundaries.

“Believe in your abilities, stay passionate, and don’t wait for miracles, create them yourself,” he told the students.

Looking Ahead

KFUPM continues to take pride in its responsibility to serve the broader community. Through programs like Mawhiba, the university opens its doors to school students at early academic stages, offering them support and resources to grow as researchers and future leaders. With initiatives like this, KFUPM remains a driving force in building a knowledge-based society and advancing national scientific excellence.
