A delegation of 20 students from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) recently participated in the second edition of the International Visits Program, held in Beijing, China, from January 3 to January 11, 2025. Accompanied by a group of faculty members, the students embarked on a week-long journey to broaden their academic and cultural horizons.
The program featured visits to historical landmarks such as Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City, as well as modern attractions like Universal Studios. The students engaged with key institutions in China, including the King Abdulaziz Library and the Saudi Arabian Cultural Mission in Beijing, and met with Saudi Embassy officials. The trip also included visiting Beijing University and tech giants like Xiaomi to explore electric vehicle technology and Sinopec Group, a leading energy and chemical company. They also had an opportunity to meet with the Chinese Academy of Science and Technology. Additionally, they had a breathtaking visit to the Great Wall of China, including a cable car ride and a visit to the China Remote Sensing Satellite Ground Station. Their final destination was a trip to AheadX, a company specializing in drone technology. These experiences provided unique insights into China's rich history, culture, and technological advancements.
The delegation shared valuable advice for future participants: "Don't hesitate to apply for such opportunities. Prepare well for interviews, be yourself, build new relationships, and document your experiences as cherished memories."
