At the launch of the annual Saudi Universities Sports Federation’s (SUSF) 16th sports season in Riyadh, KFUPM emerged as a frontrunner in both athletic and student engagement. The latest SUSF 2025 Index revealed a significant rise in national rankings, highlighting how dedication to student activities can transform campus life.
The university earned 1st place in sports activities among 5,409 male students and 2nd place among 1,736 female students across 70 Saudi universities. Just a year ago, its positions were 7th and 11th, respectively, making this leap a remarkable indicator of progress. Overall, KFUPM also claimed the top national spot with 139 points for male students and 131 for female students, receiving an advanced A rating. With an achievement rate of 82.8% across 180 activities, these programs reached more than 121,000 students.
What makes this achievement significant is the depth of engagement behind the numbers. The results highlight a deliberate effort to balance academics with extracurricular experiences that enrich student growth. Beyond sports, the university’s programs involve cultural, social, community, developmental, and awareness initiatives, offering students opportunities to sharpen their skills, enhance their wellbeing, and give back to society.
A key factor driving this success has been the surge in overall sports participation on the KFUPM campus. Physical activity within the university community had already incurred a 30% rise by mid-2025, with 937 students from all academic levels participating. This increase reflects a growing recognition of how exercise and teamwork contribute to both one’s health and academic success.
These milestones point to more than medals and scores; they signal a transformative approach to higher education, one that values both classroom excellence and an interactive campus culture. In doing so, KFUPM strengthens its role as a place where students prepare for life with both competence and confidence.
