KFUPM made its debut participation as a member of the University-Industry Demonstration Partnership (UIDP) at their annual conference in Chicago, which ran September 16–18, 2025. The event convened leaders from universities, industry, government, and nonprofit organizations to explore practical ways partnerships can adapt to evolving challenges in research, funding, compliance, and workforce development.
KFUPM was actively involved in the conference on multiple levels, including sponsorship, presentations, and an exhibition booth. As an Innovation Catalyst sponsor, the university positioned itself at the center of global conversations on collaborative innovation. This approach resonates strongly with KFUPM’s current strategy, which has already led to numerous international partnerships and innovative solutions designed alongside peers from academia, industry, and government. Its story of transformation was visible across several event channels and reinforced by a short video presentation, all of which sparked interest among attendees. Meanwhile, the exhibition booth provided a space for direct dialogue, allowing KFUPM representatives to share insights into the university’s research, programs, and opportunities for collaboration.
Among the highlights of the event was the speaking engagement by KFUPM President Dr. Mohammed Al-Saggaf, who delivered a session titled AI & the Future of Education/Institutions of the Future. His presentation both reflected KFUPM’s recognition of the global conversation on emerging technologies as well as showcased the university’s efforts to integrate AI into learning and research. Audience engagement signaled strong interest in the themes raised, setting the stage for further dialogue throughout the conference.
Mr. Husameddin S. AlMadani, Advisor to the KFUPM President, also represented the university in an interactive breakout session on Reimagining Strategies for High-Impact International Collaborations, alongside partners from University College London, Huron, and Notre Dame Universities. Designed as a participatory exchange, the session allowed KFUPM to engage directly with stakeholders from across the world in rethinking how partnerships can deliver broader impact.
KFUPM’s participation at UIDP was an intentional step toward building new relationships and amplifying the university’s role in the global research ecosystem. Each element of its participation proved that KFUPM is ready to contribute actively and meaningfully to the international dialogue on collaboration between academia and industry.
