Strong Turnout for the 10KM Ladies Cycling Race

A coordinated start replaced a ceremonial opening as cyclists assembled at the start line on Saturday, February 7th, 2026. Bringing together female cyclists from the KFUPM community, the university hosted its first 10KM Cycling Race for ladies that brought together 146 participants.

Participants were from 6 categories: Preparatory Year Students, College Students, Leaders, Faculty, Staff, and Others. Students formed the majority of the cyclists.

Many participants arrived with their own bicycles and gear. For those who did not, the university provided bikes, helmets, elbow and knee supports, emphasizing safety measures and ensuring that riders of all ages could take part with confidence.

Over the 10-kilometer route, cyclists maintained a steady pace. Some rode competitively, tracking their time and speed. Others approached the race as a personal milestone or a weekend activity with friends. The atmosphere remained supportive from start to finish, with volunteers and organizers guiding participants along the course.

The event concluded with a raffle draw. Several prizes were distributed, drawing applause from the crowd and extending the sense of achievement past the finish line.

Besides the medals and prizes, the race strengthened ties between students, faculty, staff, and families. It created a space where participation was prioritized over pace. Through initiatives such as this cycling race, KFUPM continues to advance health, wellness, and lifelong fitness within its community.
