Students Stand Out in Qimam Fellowship 2025

Five students from KFUPM have been selected for the Qimam Fellowship Program 2025, a highly competitive leadership development initiative supported by McKinsey & Company in partnership with leading local and international companies. Out of more than 18,000 applicants, only 50 students from across Saudi Arabia were accepted, including KFUPM students Musa Ibn Rashid (Computer Science), Osama Aljeraisy (Chemical Engineering), Alaqsa Akbar (Computer Engineering), Turki AlQahtani (Software Engineering), and Mohammed Abusalim (Aerospace Engineering).

The 12-day program, held in Riyadh, included executive-level leadership training, one-on-one mentorship with senior leaders from the public and private sectors, and site visits to top-tier companies. At the end of the program, each participant received the Qimam Award of Excellence during a formal recognition ceremony and joined the Qimam alumni network.

Overcoming Challenges and Standing Out

The students underwent a rigorous selection process, which included personal interviews and evaluations by professionals from diverse industries. Being chosen as fellows reflects not only their academic excellence but also their leadership potential and personal initiative.

“The selection process was intense, and the competition was strong,” one participant shared. “What helped us stand out was our preparation, refining our resumes, and practicing our communication and presentation skills.”

Future Goals and Reflections

Looking ahead, the students aim to take part in other high-impact leadership opportunities and share the experience with their peers at KFUPM. They are also committed to contributing to the professional community in Saudi Arabia.

They encourage others to pursue similar opportunities and invest in their personal and academic growth.

“Start early. Build your profile with intention. Programs like Qimam reward real effort and passion for learning,” one of them reflected.

Their participation in the Qimam Fellowship is a testament to the talent, discipline, and drive of KFUPM students to lead and excel beyond the classroom. It also reflects the core habits that define a KFUPM student: high aspiration, self-reliance, global exposure, multidisciplinary thinking, research, entrepreneurship, and positivity, values that continue to guide them as they shape the future.
