From 10–18 August 2025, ten engineering students from KFUPM specializing in electrical, mechanical, material science, civil, and petroleum engineering embarked on their first international volunteering journey to the United Republic of Tanzania. In collaboration with the university’s Volunteer Unit, Forward7, and Sika Saudi Arabia, the students rolled up their sleeves to support sustainable development projects, bringing clean cooking solutions directly to local communities and making a meaningful impact on the ground.
During the trip, students visited schools, marketplaces, and local companies, collecting energy consumption data, delivering training sessions, and raising awareness about clean cooking practices. The journey began with a welcome dinner hosted by the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Tanzania and included a special meeting with the Minister of Community Development, Gender, Women, and Special Groups, where new projects supporting families and schools were announced.
The field experience allowed KFUPM students to directly engage with global challenges, apply their knowledge in real-world settings, and make a tangible difference in communities. The program reflects KFUPM’s commitment to cultivating the seven habits in its students, spreading kindness, embracing global experiences, and fostering socially responsible leadership.
By the end of the trip, the students had not only contributed to impactful projects but also returned with enriched perspectives, ready to share their experiences and continue leaving a positive mark worldwide.
