U.S. Consul General in Dhahran visits KFUPM

On Sunday, 28th January 2018, His Excellency Dr. Khalid S. Al-Sultan, Rector of the University, received the U.S. Consul General Rachna S. Korhonen.
During the meeting, Dr. Al Sultan gave a brief overview on the University, its development, scientific progress,
and educational and research potentials. The meeting also discussed the means
of enhancing cooperation between KFUPM and universities in the USA.
The visit’s program included the Research Institute, where she was received by Dr.
Sahel N. Abduljauwad, Vice Rector for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, and the directors of
the Institute's centers.
The Dean of Research, Dr. Nasser Al-Aqeeli, gave a presentation on the University, its
potential, educational programs, research potentials and efforts in the field
of patents. He also addressed the College of Petroleum Engineering and Earth
Sciences, which aims to be one of the world best five colleges in this field.
Dr. Al-Aqeeli emphasized the Research Institute’s
most important areas of research, including energy, oil & water, converting
patents to scientific projects and the role of Dhahran Techno Valley in this
research.
The program included a tour of the Institute’s labs to identify the role of the Institute and its departments in establishing the rules of applied research.
At the end of the visit, the US Consul General praised the University's
capabilities and programs and its role in education, research and community
service.
