Dr. Abido is the winner of Khalifa Award as a Distinguished Scientist in Arab World 2017/2018.

Dr. Abido holds a bachelor's degree with honors in Electrical Engineering from the College of Engineering - Menofia University, Egypt in 1985 and got MS degree in EE in 1989 from Menofia University - Egypt. In 1997 he obtained his PhD in Electrical Engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals - Saudi Arabia. He works as a professor - Department of Electrical Engineering - King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals since 2014. Research interests of Dr. Abido includes Electrical Systems and Renewable Energy Sources. He received many international and local awards for his distinguished innovative scientific research, including Abdul Hameed Shoman Award 2005 for Young Arab Researchers in the field of Engineering Sciences, and Almarai Award for Scientific Innovation 2018 (Distinguished Scientist Branch).

Dr. Abido has more than 350 research papers published in scientific journals as well as two scientific books and nine patents filed at USPTO. According to Shanghai Ranking 2016, Dr. Abido is one of the most cited researchers in the field of electrical engineering.
