GCC Lab Hosts KFUPM Electrical Engineering Delegation

A delegation of Electrical Engineering academics visited GCC Lab Company in Dammam where they had an introduction about its latest developments, in addition to the company technical and research capabilities that was developed in a short time to localize electrical energy tests and researches, renewable energy, technical consultancy, training, calibration and inspection through global partnerships which allow the company to be at the forefront of these critical and important fields. The GCC Lab will place the Kingdom as the strategic hub of the Middle East and North Africa in delivering these services.

The visit aims to bridge the relations between academia and industry. The GCC lab is one of the strategic projects hosted by King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals and developed in cooperation with leading companies in the power industry such as Saudi Electricity, Saudi Aramco, GCC Interconnection Authority, Alfanar Companies, MOTABAQAH, ACWA Power, Saudi Electrical Industries Company and Electromechanical Services Company, as well as the Public Investment Fund. The achievements of the company and the role of the laboratory in supporting research, development and training were presented.

KFUPM and GCC Lab agreed to appoint a team to identify the possible area of cooperation. These include:

-        The development of KFUPM programs and enrich the practical side.

-        Scientific workshops by laboratory experts for KFUPM students during the academic year.

-        Cooperation in the fields of research, development and modernization of specifications and standards

-        Field visits to enhance practical experience.

-        The summer training programs and cooperative training.

-        The practical training administrative courses in asset management, specification development, energy efficiency and planning.

 It is worth mentioning that GCC Lab Company is seeking to build up to date laboratories and research centers in the fields of electrical power, renewable energy, measurement techniques, intelligent networks, safety, efficiency and quality in Dammam third industrial city.
