The Karate Kata 1 Show 2026, organized by KFUPM as part of the Preparatory Year Program, was held on April 25, 2026. This marked the first introduction of Karate into the Physical Education (PE 002) curriculum, reflecting the university’s commitment to promoting discipline, physical fitness, focus, and self-defense skills among students.

The event featured 412 students representing 32 sections, who delivered a unified performance of Kata 1 after completing systematic training throughout the semester. Their collective demonstration highlighted the technique, coordination, and precision developed during the course.

The ceremony was attended by Dr. Wail Sulaiman Falath, Dean of the College of General Studies, who welcomed participants and emphasized the role of sports and martial arts in building character, discipline, and a healthy lifestyle, along with Mohammed Al Jwasem of the Saudi Karate Federation, who praised the initiative and the cooperation between the Saudi Karate Federation and KFUPM.

Held in collaboration with the Saudi Universities Sports Federation (SUSF) and the Saudi Karate Federation, this show was the first initiative of its kind at this scale and level across universities in the Kingdom.

The event showcased the enthusiasm and commitment of KFUPM students, highlighting the growing role of martial arts within university sports programs.
