KFUPM students have launched FORGE, a student-led initiative designed to advance undergraduate engineering education by bridging theory with real-world application. Developed under the umbrella of Student Affairs, the initiative equips high-potential students to navigate complex engineering challenges with confidence, accountability, and global awareness.
FORGE is structured around three core pillars: Technical Amplification, Superintendency, and Global Representation. Together, they provide a framework that moves students beyond traditional problem-solving into critical evaluation, decision-making under uncertainty, and competitive international engagement.
The initiative features a range of immersive activities and competitions. Through platforms such as the Reverse Hackathon, students analyze and enhance existing engineering solutions, while the Forging Court simulates real-world scenarios where participants defend their decisions across technical, ethical, and economic dimensions. Complementary experiences, including Coffee Engineering and Fragrances Factory, offer hands-on exposure to applied chemical engineering through controlled experimentation.
FORGE has engaged more than 10,000 visitors, supported more than 350 competition participants, and enabled more than 45 teams to prepare for potential global contests, in collaboration with a growing network of academic and industry partners.
By integrating technical depth with leadership development and global exposure, FORGE reflects the strength of student-led innovation at KFUPM—cultivating engineers who are equipped to lead, innovate, and compete on the world stage.
